Ranked Annotated Bibliographies

1. Krauker, John. Into the wild. First Anchor Books Edition,February 1997.

This book is the best book that I read through out the semester. Regardless of what happened to the character. It gave me the essence of  living the life in the way you really wanted to be. To be happy and to have hope and courage which he brought to the end of the story.

2. Gore, Al. An Inconvenient truth.Paramount Home entertainment April 2007.

Very informative. It serves positive purpose in life. To challenge yourself in changing your behavior and attitude toward mother earth. Loving the place that you live in. To help our community by way of  cleaning up, conserving energy and Recycling .A daily routine becomes a lifestyle. A little deed make a whole world happy.

3. Poetry reading. Union Artist gallery. Ventura, California May 6, 2008

I had a very interesting experience in union artist gallery. I get to read my poem even though it was  nerve wracking. I was able to share to everyone my thoughts by way of  reading my poem in front of many strangers. I had a great time despite the fact that

4. Tan, Amy. “Mother tongue”. Random House Incorporated August 1997

I am born and raised from the philippines .I undertand completely what amy’s mom is going through and her broken english . English is  not my primary language and sometimes I stummer in trying to speak the english language. A lot of times I caught myself  having conversations and I pause for a while because I forgotten the term that I was suppose to use in english then I start breaking the words I am trying to convey.

5. Diamond, Jared. “The Mirror of our fate”. Patagonia Spring o5 catalogue

“A wasteland with no single tree or bush over ten feet tall .It had no native land animals larger than an insect, no domestic animals except chickens”. What I think is that we are slowly destroying our own land. We don’t take good care of it.

6. Ridgeway, Rick. “Path to survival”. Hearts of winter 2008

Rick showed how important it is for the animals to have a path to survival meaning when the habitats migrate to elsewhere they could always come back to where they’ve started. Instead we are loosing them because it is either they are lost or scared of the highways for instance that is blocking their path to come back.

7. Muir, John. “Hetchy hetchy valley”. Oxford University press August 2006

“These temple destroyers, devotees of ravaging commercialism, seem to have a perfect contempt for Nature, and, instead of lifting their eyes to the God of the mountains, lift them to the Almighty Dollar”. This goes to show that the government officials see our nature as a business not a place for peace and for the people that loved nature. We see families go there and rest, relax and just to enjoy the simplicity our nature has to offer.

8. Thoreau, Henry David. ‘Where I live and what I lived for”. Beacon press July 2004

Very difficult to read and yet was able to deliver his point across to  his reader. He was able to  deliver it’s meaning to the end on how we have forgotten to live the way we should be in the simplest form.We should live it to the fullest , we shouldn’t waste our time doing what we are doing routinely and forgetting  that there is more to life than just working and providing. We can change the way we live if we want to. Live simple.if some have the pleasure of riding on a rail, others have the misfortune to be ridden upon”.  9. Ehrlich, Gretel. “Santa Rosa”. University of California press 1994

Gretel as she talk about Santa Rosa in lengthy pleasing description. She projects a positive note of how she love that she lived in. She did a good job projecting beautiful Santa Rosa, the beaches, the ocean, the terrains. The beautiful Santa Rosa as its best.

10. Anzulda, Gloria. The Path of Red and Black ink. Multi-cultural literacy

This story is the worst. I caught myself tying to read it several times because I could not understand it. There was so much going around the bush before it goes to the point. I just feel that I didn’t get anything of what she was trying to write. There were a lot of words that was said in Spanish which I think threw the reader away of what she is trying to imply.
