The Inconvenient truth…

It is a scary thought to learn that our world is coming down to an end if we don’t take care of it:veilled threats. The strong emotional appeal was when he showed a part where he almost lost his son in an accident , It was an awakening for him that he has  to do something about what he believed. In relation to the world that we  lived in. he pointed out ways to avoid this global warming or help prevent it by saving electricity, gas, food, energy consumption…etc… . he pursued this by  travelling  around the world to reach out with each one of us  to explore this knowledge of global warming by educating evryone of what he thinks is possible to happen. showed the slides , movies , the past and present time and what the scientist think about it. he had showed statistics from the 60’s,80’s  through present time. it’s a scary thought because that ’s what he wanted to imply  to people but I am not 100% sure  wether this is just another theory , not facts. he did show  picture of how earth looks like in the 60’s in comparable to the current one. There was a different in its physical features but then again maybe it ’s just how the pictures were taken . I take pictures myself sometimes it’s really pretty pictures , sometimes it’s not. or maybe those pictures were also taken during the summer or winter time that is why it looked different ? I don’t know that for a fact but it could happen. At this age and time, you will be amazed how technology can falsify or distort an evidence.or maybe the pictures were really old compared to what was taken currently.It’s a burden of proof. it assumes that something is true because it hasn’t been proven.

What is a border?

The line or frontier area separating political divisions or geographic regions; a boundary. A boundary in which separates a part of  a country or another. It tells you which region of the map are you placed. It simply tells you who you are where you live. It’ s not  just a division of where we live in but it also   pertains to ethnic background , culture and Identity.

United States America is one good example , It is vast multi culture place. In this part of the country we have so many borders it self not only pertaining to where we live yet  who we are and  which ethnicity we belong to– Like asian of the east  , hispanics ,Black ,White is also a division  of with  whom ethic group we belong to. I believe that eventhough we are divided in terms of our culture, ethnicity  or identity. In my eyes everyone is equal!

 When my family migrated to U.S. at young age I was scared– why we’re moving . I left my freinds , relatives, playmates. basically left my childhood life there. Although , as I grew older I learned to adapt the american culture, how to dress up ,what to eat and  how to speak in their language. No matter where you are where you live, all it matters is you are at peace and befriended with everyone! regardless–.

this is how the society is then yet i guess we just have to make more effort to teach and educate people  more about what does racism and prejudism is and what affects the society. If we have a society that no prejudism nor racism. there will be equal people in the face of the earth.there will be no hate nor crime…

This was  Martin luther king’s dream. One day people in our nation wether your black , white,  brown ; will one day walk hand in hand and there will be a no poor nor rich , everyone is equal just like god had equally loved his children.

This is an example of my instances that made postive impact to the world. President John f. kennedy our 35th former president made a speech about how we are going to the moon and we did that in 1963. Thanks to the people that sacrificed their lives to be able to pursue one’s dream, to the people that supported it ; the american people and to JFK’s speech of goal that human being will be able to see what’s beyond the earth called– moon.—-Mary Anne

Contrary to the popular view of John Kennedy as a space visionary, the president had little interest in space and strove to put humans on the moon only for its political importance. “I’m not that interested in space,” he told NASA chief James Webb late in 1962.

Kennedy made the remarks during a White House meeting about the space agency’s priorities in late 1962, eighteen months after he urged the nation to put a man on the moon before the end of the 1960s.Just 10 weeks before the November meeting, Kennedy had given a speech at Rice University, to help dedicate NASA’s new Manned Spacecraft Center (now the Johnson Space Center) near Houston. That speech is remembered for Kennedy’s stirring declaration, “We choose to go to the moon! We choose to go to the moon in this decade and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hard.”In the Rice University address, Kennedy declared that space exploration was important not only for its technological and scientific benefits, but for its own sake. However, this speech, long considered a prime example of Kennedy’s visionary stance on Apollo, contrasts with his private remarks on the newly declassified tape.The John F. Kennedy Library in Boston has just released a tape recording of the meeting, which took place at the White House on November 21, 1962. In the meeting, Kennedy faced off against NASA Administrator James Webb, who pushed for a broader mission for NASA.

On the tape, Webb tells Kennedy that some of the nation’s top space scientists doubt whether it is possible to send humans on a lunar voyage. “There are real unknowns about whether man can live under the weightless environment,” he says. Committing to a manned lunar landing, Webb tells the president, could leave the country vulnerable to failure. Instead, Webb insists, landing on the moon should be only part of a broad effort by NASA to understand the space environment and its effects on human beings.

Webb’s tone in confronting the nation’s chief executive is fearless. Historian John Logsdon of George Washington University says Webb “must have felt very strongly about this,” adding that there had been a running feud at NASA Headquarters about how much importance Apollo should have.

But Kennedy stands firm, telling Webb that the moon landing is NASA’s top priority. ” This is, whether we like it or not, a race. Everything we do [in space] ought to be tied into getting to the moon ahead of the Russians.”

Kennedy’s science advisor Jerome Weisner, also present at the meeting, agreed with his boss. Initially an opponent of the Apollo program, Weisner can be heard telling Kennedy that scientsts “don’t know a damn thing about the surface of the moon,” adding that the landing attempt could be “a terrible disaster” if NASA doesn’t find out ahead of time what the lunar surface is like. (NASA at this time was already planning the unmanned series of Surveyor landers to answer that question.)

Webb isn’t ready to give up his quest for a broader mission, however, and tells Kennedy that NASA’s goal ought to be “preeminence in space.” The President responds by saying, “We’ve been telling everybody for five years we’re preeminent in space, and nobody believes us.” Kennedy’s call for a moon landing in 1961 came after the Russians had launched the first human in space, Yuri Gagarin, to world acclaim.

Now, he tells Webb that beating the Russians to the moon “is the top priority of the agency and … except for defense, the top priority of the United States government. …. Otherwise, we shouldn’t be spending this kind of money, because I’m not that interested in space.”

To Logsdon, the president’s remarks challenge the popular view of Kennedy as a space visionary. “I don’t think Kennedy, at the time he chose to do Apollo or any other time, had any strong views on the long-term importance of space exploration.”

On the tape, Kennedy tells Webb, “I think it’s good [to explore space], I think we ought to know about it, we’re ready to spend reasonable amounts of money. But we’re talking about *fantastic* expenditures. We’ve wrecked our budget, and all the other domestic programs. And the only justification for it, in my opinion to do it [on this schedule] is because we hope to beat them, to demonstrate that starting behind, and we did, by a couple of years, by God, we passed them.”

I like Gloria Anzaldua’s writing strategy, simple and precise. She had mentioned examples and experiences to back up her writing . She projects  imagination . It’s similar to how I write though sometimes it’s not always precise but it can be practiced and corrected. I am not much of a writer myself yet now that i am in this class i have that inkling notion to write. sometimes it’s just hard to actually sit down and write down your thoughts and put two and two together.

Last nights surprise!

After school last night, I stayed at the library to do more home work. I was contemplating to go home or stay and  get something done with my overwhelming homework?! Finally, after an hour and half later– I decided to go home. On the way home my mind is occuppied with “PASTA” spaghetti, rigatoni, alfredo fettucini ummm… yummy… I jaut have the cravings for it. I could just taste it in my mouth.  I thought i should go home pick up my kids and boyfriend and eat in a italian restaurant…. Weird–the lights are off yet I was thinking my kids and boyfriend would have been home by now from taekwondo practice. As soon as i opened the door–voila!

A candle lit on a cake,  flowers from my two beautiful boys, and a happy birthday song– What a great night! then– of course we end up eating dinner at the italian restaurant….I had Mama trio  A” stuffed callepne, Layers of lasagna and Chicken” aren’t you craving for it yet?

I just thought of sharing my simple and humble life after all the sacrifices, my li’l munchkins  always does this little things that makes me smile–hence makes me me happy inside and out. Hope you like it.

I was  talking to our teacher today after class and she has this gesture or facial expression that is familiar to me and the way she talks reminds me of someone though I can’t figure it out til now– she reminds me of Renee Zellweger!!!  she’s in that movie brigette jones diary– something….  don’t you guys agree?
